Gold Panning Tools are inexpensive and easy to come by. You can start off with a simple gold pan for under $5 and a shovel. You can add a classifier screen, pick, tweezers and other prospecting equipment. Or if you are frugal you can save some money and buy pre-made gold panning tools in kit form (see below). All prospecting starts with a basic gold pan. And in many cases the final clean up ends with a gold pan too. The gold pan is the most versatile prospecting tool you can own. They are lightweight so you can explore areas and sample different spots till you find an area that has some good "color" (gold). As you improve your panning technique, you may find that simple hand panning will save more fine gold than even much more expensive and fancy automated equipment. No matter what other prospecting equipment you purchase you will still end up panning the concentrates at the end of each day. Numerous books and videos are available (see below) on the art of gold panning and if you are just starting out, it is a good idea to get one or two. See our gold prospecting books section and try some of our gold panning concentrates to practice at home. It's surprisingly easy to become a good gold panner and with the right panning tools in hand you will become a veteran prospector soon enough. |
